802.16e

The 802.16e is an amendment to the 802.16d standard extending the technology to the mobile systems. The MAC layer is almost the same, just adding mobility messages and new states in the stations (Idle mode, sleep mode). The PHY adds a new version of the OFDMA modulation scheme, allowing scalability between the number of carriers and the FFT used in the OFDM modulation. The WiMAX Forum has defined in an early stage a system profile that includes the usage of some bandwidth - FFT sizes: 5 MHz-512, 7 MHz-1024, 8.75 MHz-1024 and 10 MHz-1024.

The frequency bands will rely on the 2.3-2.6 GHz and 3.5 GHz.
