More and more, our daily life makes us to be surrounded by electronic and electrical equipment essential to live. That is the reason why we ask ourselves very often why we are not allowed to use electronical equipment during the take off and the landing of a plane, or why it is not possible to listen to the radio station of our car when we pass near a high voltage line.
Well, that is owing to the fact that electromagnetic interference disturb the normal operating of any electronical equipment, preventing them to carry out the mission for what they were designed, involving non-desired effects or risks for the facilities and people safety in case of a fault. On the other hand, this can be both a big technical and commercial problem for the manufacturer.
With the issue of the EMC Directive 89/336/EEC (New approach Directive), it is expected to protect communication systems, devices or appliances whose operating mode may be damaged by the above mentioned electromagnetic interference.
The solution to the interference problems in particular, causes a reflection effect on the running quality of the equipment manufactured. This warrants us, in the environment in which we work, that the equipment complies with all the functions for which it was designed, without introducing any unacceptable disturbance within this environment or in other systems (EMISSION), and withstanding the interference caused by other equipment (IMMUNITY).
Accreditation
