16/10/2006 - AT4 WIRELESS, A NEW BRAND FOR CETECOM
THE CENTRO DE TECNOLOGÍA DE LAS COMUNICACIONES, S. A. CONTINUES TO INNOVATE; THE NEW BRAND MARKS THE COMPANY'S 15-YEAR ANNIVERSARY.
The Centro de Tecnología de las Comunicaciones, S.A., founded in 1991 at the Technology Park of Andalusia in Malaga and known to date as CETECOM, has announced that from now it will be called AT4 wireless.
AT4 wireless, meaning "Advanced Technologies for Wireless", will be organized into three main divisions: AT4 Labs, principally involved with laboratory testing activities; AT4 Systems for the development of test systems in the telecommunications field, and AT4 Engineering and Solutions, providing engineering services and developing software and hardware applications for the communications field.
June 2006 marked a two-year period since changes were made to the share structure of AT4 wireless. This change was driven by the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Enterprise (Consejería de Innovación, Ciencia y Empresa) based on the need to support the definitive national and international projection of the company, launching it as a catalyst for the telecommunications industry in Andalusia. Its current shareholders are the Andalusian Agency for Innovation and Development (Agencia de Innovación y Desarrollo de la Junta de Andalucía), El Monte, Veiasa and Sadiel.
Since the changes made to the company's share structure, results have shown spectacular growth with turnover reaching 17.2 million euros in 2005, an increase of 56.36%. In addition, exports have increased, claiming a greater share and reaching 63% of the total company income for 2005.
AT4 wireless is currently involved in a process of growth, supported by an investment of over 12 million euros in R&D. This process is expected to lead to an increase in the number of staff employed by the company, predicted to rise to between 350 and 400 employees by 2008. In fact, this growth can already be seen if we consider that there was an average of 169 employees in 2005 and, so far this year, this number has increased to around 240 staff.
In addition, it is expected that the company will continue to enjoy an increase in turnover and growth in the international market.
It should also be highlighted that on 10th October, AT4 wireless won the Info Vision 2006 award, one of the most prestigious prizes in the industry, in the category for Broadband Wireless Communications for its MINT T2110 "Radio frequency test system for the conformance testing of WiMAX devices". This prize is awarded by the International Engineering Consortium (IEC), created in the United States in 1944 with the objective of bringing together universities and companies working in the electronics industry in order to drive development and maintain the highest levels of education and training for professionals who contribute to this industry.
"The new brand responds to the clear international vocation of our company and, of course, to our major involvement in the telecommunications market on a global level. AT4 wireless appealed to us because it is dynamic and modern and, from the outset, we have sought to continue being innovative with this new brand".
Fernando E. Hardasmal, Deputy General Director of CETECOM.
"We believe that AT4 wireless is the right brand for this new phase we are facing after 15 years and we expect significant international growth both in terms of sales as well as presence, along with leadership in the telecommunications market and a continued commitment to innovation, research and development. We wish to establish AT4 wireless as one of the main R&D&I telecommunications centres in Europe".
Luis Fernando Martínez, General Director.
As a part of this growth process, the company has established an R&D&I telecommunications centre which is also based at the PTA (Technology Park of Andalusia), very close to its central headquarters where the laboratories are now located. The centre is due to open before the end of the year.
BACK PAPER FOR PRESS
The Centro de Tecnología de las Comunicaciones, S.A. (formerly CETECOM España), founded in 1991 at the Technology Park of Andalusia (PTA) in Malaga has developed its activity based on offering a highly specialised telecommunications laboratory. Since this time, it has broadened its scope to include engineering services and solutions, with a firm focus on research and development. This has enabled the company to create and launch its conformance test systems based on in-house technologies and developments to the international market.
The positioning achieved in highly specialised telecommunications markets on an international level, together with the recent changes to the share structure and a major plan for investment and growth for the coming years have promoted the creation of a new logo. This logo provides a clear identity for the company in the global marketplace and distinguishes it based on its uniqueness and specialisation.
The letters stand for "Advanced Technologies for Wireless", clearly identifying the activities carried out at the Communications Technology Centre and graphically indicating the company's distinctive specialisation.
AT4 wireless profile
The Centro de Tecnología de las Comunicaciones S.A. (AT4 wireless) specialises in wireless and mobile technologies and has three clearly defined divisions:
· Laboratories
· Systems
· Engineering and Solutions
The AT4 wireless shareholders are: IDEA - Agency for Innovation and Development of Andalusia - (49.05%), Grupo Empresarial El Monte (24.53%), Verificaciones Industriales de Andalucía, S.A. Veiasa (24.53%) and Sadiel (1.90%).
The test laboratory for mobile and wireless communication devices is currently one of the most complete in the world, and the R&D centre specialising in radio frequency technologies and communication protocols is one of the most important in Southern Europe.
"Growth through cooperation" clearly continues to be one of the keys to success, along with the company's dynamic nature, its commitment to innovation and its belief in the talent of its personnel.
Basis for the visual identity of the new brand
The logo developed for AT4 wireless is structured around three basic elements: an anagram or symbol, a specific font, and the use of the company's corporate colours.
The central element and main identifying factor of the image is a series of curved lines that differ in size and join to form a structure that emulates a continuous and constant movement indicating progress and dynamism. This gives an impression of upward flight towards the market, both in terms of AT4 wireless as a company as well as for the products or companies it certifies or works with. This movement is generated from a centre shown in green, the colour of Andalusia, and surrounded by different blues which refer to nature and, more specifically, to water or the sea, another fortunate natural feature enjoyed by Andalusia. The darker blue that appears in the name is also the colour associated with Europe on a worldwide level. Finally, the composition of the waves bears reference to wireless technologies.
Through this new logo we wish to transmit a level of warmth and intimacy and remove the coldness generally associated with technology. Instead, we wish to emphasise an association with nature and, consequently, make a stand for sustainable development, a crucial issue in present times.
In addition, the clear definition of the lines and the cleanness of the forms transmit seriousness, clear ideas and professionalism, giving an overall impression of quality.
The font used emanates a certain level of character, transmitting seriousness, strength and stability as well as a touch of friendliness which complements the distinctiveness of the name while ensuring it is easy to read. Finally, the logo leans to the right, indicating a position of continuous progress.
